Women's Clothing Size: UK to Intl

This page converts women's clothing sizes from the UK system to the international (S–XXL) system. It is the quick reference you need when shopping from foreign retailers, where the same garment carries very different numbers depending on the country of origin.

For example, a women's UK 12 is typically a international M. International labels use letters (S, M, L) rather than numbers, so expect a range rather than an exact match.

Keep in mind that clothing equivalences are a starting point, not a guarantee: so-called vanity sizing means two brands can label a garment of identical measurements differently. So alongside this chart, it is worth checking each brand's own size guide and, above all, looking at the actual measurements in centimetres.

How to take your measurements

For a women's size, take three measurements with a flexible tape: your bust around the fullest point, your waist at its narrowest, and your hips at the widest. Compare them to the chart, and if you fall between two sizes, favour the larger measurement to be sure of the fit.

Measure in your underwear or a thin garment, and keep the tape level and snug without pulling tight; a couple of centimetres can change the recommended size.

Frequently asked questions

What international (S–XXL) size is my UK women's size?

Select your UK size in the calculator and we show the equivalent international (S–XXL) size for women's clothing. Use it as a starting point and confirm with the brand's measurements.

Why does the same size fit differently between brands?

Because of vanity sizing: each brand tweaks its patterns, so two garments of the same nominal size can have different measurements. Go by the actual measurement in centimetres where you can.

Does this chart work for every type of garment?

It is a general size equivalence. For closely fitted or structured pieces (jeans, suits), always check the brand's specific size guide.
